Linda G. Levin, DDS, PhD, PA
Dr. Linda Gibson Levin is a graduate of Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. She completed a residency in Endodontics at UNC in 1985 and joined the faculty. As a recipient of a Physician Scientist Award from the National Institutes of Health, she completed a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology at the UNC School of Medicine in 1995. She currently holds a faculty appointment in the Department of Endodontics at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry and maintains hospital privileges at Duke University Medical Center.
Dr. Levin remained at the UNC School of Dentistry as a tenured faculty member for 20 years, where she taught, conducted research, and practiced in the Dental Faculty Private Practice. She is the former Chair of the Department of Endodontics at UNC-Chapel Hill. Dr. Levin has authored numerous peer-reviewed papers, book chapters, and review articles in the fields of Endodontics and Pulp Biology. She lectures nationally and internationally on evidence-based endodontics and serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Endodontics. Her background in both the basic sciences and clinical dentistry uniquely qualifies her to provide the highest standard of evidence-based care.
Dr. Levin is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics, the ADA-designated organization responsible for board certification in Endodontics. She previously served as a Director of the American Board of Endodontics and held the positions of Secretary and President during her tenure. She continues to serve as an Examiner for Board Certification in Endodontics.
Her distinguished career has earned recognition from some of the most prestigious organizations in dentistry. Dr. Levin is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, the nation’s oldest honorary dental organization. She is also a Fellow of the International College of Dentists and the International Association for Dental Traumatology. In addition, she is a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society.
Dr. Levin has been an active member of the American Association of Endodontists and is a Past President of the organization. She is also a member of the American Dental Association, North Carolina Dental Society, Tarheel Endodontic Society, and the Southwest Durham Rotary Club.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Levin enjoys cycling, reading, traveling, and music.
