Dr. David Wong, DMD

Dr. David Wong grew up in Los Angeles, California and earned his BS in Biochemistry & Cell Biology at the University of California San Diego. During his studies, he developed a passion for dentistry through volunteering as a dental assistant at free dental clinics for the underserved located throughout San Diego. He then went on to obtain his DMD at the University of Pennsylvania receiving honors and awards in community health in recognition of his efforts to promote oral health literacy in Philadelphia. Afterwards, he decided to pursue advanced training in the management of medically compromised patients through a hospital-based general dentistry residency at the University of Colorado. During his dental education, Dr. Wong developed a special interest in caring for patients in acute dental pain. This ultimately led him pursue further education in Endodontics at the University of Texas Health Science Center – San Antonio. As a resident, he received several awards for his research in characterizing apical periodontitis innervation. What that means for his patients is he deeply understands how dental pain can afflict their daily life and looks forward to helping them get back to being themselves again.

When not treating patients, Dr. Wong enjoys cooking and trying new food. He loves his new adopted city of Durham and looks forward to exploring everything it has to offer.
